This qualification will give you threshold status to teach in your sector. It is the first step towards professional recognition in becoming a teacher, tutor or trainer in your sector.

Aim

This qualification will give you threshold status to teach in your sector. It is the first step towards professional recognition in becoming a teacher, tutor or trainer in your sector.

Mandatory Units:

Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (6 credits) • Planning and Enabling Learning (9 credits) • Principles and Practice of Assessments (3 credits)

Optional Units:

Preparing for the Coaching Role or Preparing for the Mentoring Role (3 credits) • Equality and Diversity (6 credits)

18 credits must be achieved through Mandatory units and 6 credits from the optional units, it is not possible to combine Level 3 optional units with the same title at level 4 and it is not possible to combine Preparing for Coaching with Preparing for Mentoring at either level. It is possible to combine optional units at Level 4 with the PTTLS at Level 3, provided the learner has the skills and required potential to achieve the assessment criteria.

The course is suitable for anyone teaching or wishing to teach in colleges, and for those training in industry, business or the public services.
