Who needs this qualification?

The qualification you are undertaking is an Assessor Unit. The Awards are work-based qualifications which assess the skills and knowledge people have and need to perform their job role effectively. The qualifications are designed using national occupational standards.

Summary

This course will cover underpinning knowledge and practical sessions with observations and internally/externally assessed portfolios. Candidate Assessors require access to a minimum of two candidates whom they will be assessing under the supervision of their Tutor Assessor.

Usually delivered alongside a generic teaching qualification but if previously qualified deliverers require A1 usually 1 or 2 class room days with one to one ongoing mentoring and support

Aim:

Each industry sector has a National Training Organisation (NTO) which is made up of representatives from the industry or profession and it is the NTO's responsibility to develop the national occupational standards. These standards define what employees, or potential employees, must be able to do, how well and in what circumstances to show they are competent in their work.

A1.1 Develop plans for assessing competence with candidates

A1.2 Judge Evidence against criteria to make assessment decisions

A1.3 Provide feedback and support to candidates on assessment decisions

A1.4 Contribute to the internal quality assurance process

Teacher or trainers from most industries who are involved in the delivery and assessment of work based NVQs
