ELCAS Training Packages

ELCAS LogoThe Leadership Development Centre has over the last couple of years trained a large number of ex-military personnel in Close Protection, First Aid and Trainer Training for different sectors within the security industry; we are now in a position to offer career pathways to help ex-military personnel gain teaching and training qualifications.

Depending on your area of specialism and background in your military career you may be interested in trainer training within the following areas:

Security training for SIA licensing: Door Supervision, Guarding, CCTV & Close Protection Operations First Aid at Work & Emergency First Aid training Passenger Transport and Logistics Health and Safety Gym Instructors

Personnel leaving the military can use their ELCAS grants with LDC as we are an approved centre.

ELCAS with immediate effect it is permissible for Service Leavers to use their Individual Resettlement Training Cost (IRTC) grant in concert with Enhanced Learning Credit (ELC) to pay for the same higher level qualification courses starting on or after 1 September 2008.

Remember you must plan ahead - allow sufficient time, at least five weeks, between submitting your claim and starting your course.

And please note:

  • Invoices from learning providers may only be presented to ELCAS for payment on or after the course start date.
  • Retrospective ELC claims are not permitted. Claim forms must be received by ELCAS at least 15 clear working days prior to the course start date.
  • Before making a second or third claim you must return a Claim Evaluation Form to ELCAS and supply proof of completion to your Education Staff for all previous learning activities.
  • It is important that you do not set up a loan/credit agreement for the full amount under any circumstances.
  • You must not pay any money to the Provider or book the course before you receive your Claim Authorisation Note. This also applies to potential new providers awaiting "approved" status to join the ELCAS list.
  • You must make a personal contribution of at least 20% towards the total course cost.
  • Just because an organisation is listed as an Approved Provider it does not mean that all of their courses are of the required level.
  • You are reminded that ELC funding is only available for pursuit of higher level learning i.e. for courses that result in a nationally recognised qualification at Level 3 or above on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) (England and Wales), a Level 6 or above on the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) or, if pursued overseas, an approved international equivalent qualification.

At each stage of the process you must consult both the JSP and your Education Staff to ensure that both you and your chosen learning activity are eligible for ELC support. Our most popular Elcas funded course is Btec Level 3 Close Protection ........ why not combine this with PTTLS, CM & PI Trainer qualifications
