The Leadership and Motivation Certificate is a national qualification designed to help licensees improve staff performance through the application of effective leadership and motivation.

2. Setting Business Objectives:

• The critical roles of management
• The importance of objectives
• Setting objectives for individual staff

3. Motivation:

• The categories of motivation
• Motivational techniques
• Management assumptions on motivation

4. Reward:

• Types of reward
• Designing specific reward schemes
• Evaluating their effectiveness

5. Effective Leadership:

• The types of leadership
• Assessment of current approach
• Developing a flexible style

6. Managing Poor Performance:

• Reasons for poor performance
• The benefits of coaching
• Coaching in practice

7. Managing Good Performance:

• Recognising good performance
• Feedback procedure
• Performance reviews

8. Maximising Team Effectiveness:

• Characteristics of an effective team
• Evaluation techniques
• Conducting team meetings

How is it assessed?

By examination. Candidates sit two 30-minute short answer examinations.

Where is training available?

Courses are available from BIIAB nominated tutors at BIIAB approved centres.

How long is the course leading to the examination?

The course usually comprises two days of training.

What support material is available?

A comprehensive workbookproduced by BIIAB is supplied to candidates by the training centre.

What does a candidate receive on successful assessment?

A certificate awarded by BIIAB.

Progression

The Leadership and Motivation Certificate can be used as part of the AQ Diploma portfolio.
